China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection has told the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin and the provinces of Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and Henan to continue using coal or other fuels if they have not converted to gas or electric heating, according to a document from the ministry issued on Thursday and seen by Interfax Natural Gas Daily.

Gas distributors and authorities in areas that have already switched should ensure supplies and prices of gas and electricity are stable, the document said.
