The European Commission’s director general for energy has slammed Russia’s gas policy, calling it “immobile and oriented into the old world”.

Dominique Ristori told the SET Plan Conference in Bratislava, Slovakia on Thursday that Russia faces difficulties in keeping up with the changing landscape in Central Europe, which in recent years has seen an LNG boom and rapid development of gas infrastructure. This has reduced the region’s dependence on Russian gas, forcing Russia to make its gas prices more competitive.
