China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) has launched the first phase of the Karakul Block in southern Uzbekistan’s Bukhara province, the company announced on Monday.
Once fully operational, the first phase will be able to produce 1 billion cubic metres per year of gas, which will be exported to China via the Central Asia-China Pipeline system.
The block contains three gas fields and is operated by a joint venture between CNPC and Uzbekneftegaz.
