CNOOC holds back 20 bcm of gas for winter emergencies

China National Offshore Oil Corp. has said it is preparing to keep 20 billion cubic metres of gas on hand to meet demand during the winter heating season.

China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has said it is preparing to keep 20 billion cubic metres of gas on hand to meet demand during the winter heating season.

The company has chartered two LNG carriers to stand by off the coast of Tianjin to provide emergency supplies. The carriers complement the GDF Suez Cape Ann FSRU, which CNOOC has chartered from Engie.
