Mozambique’s tax authority has said an amendment to the petroleum tax law passed by parliament in November does not apply to the Rovuma Basin LNG projects in the north of the country.

The changes made to the law’s fiscal stability clauses will instead affect new projects in Mozambique, such as those that might be developed if oil or gas is found in the blocks awarded under the country’s fifth exploration licensing round.
