The northern Chinese province of Hebei has released an emergency response plan to ensure there will be sufficient gas supplies for the winter heating season, which lasts from mid-November to mid-March and sees gas-fired boilers switched on for district heating.
Hebei is struggling to cope with a supply shortfall following the start of the heating season.
The top tier of the plan is reserved for serious gas shortages, when demand exceeds supply by 20%, and will see supplies suspended or limited for industrial, commercial and transport use.
