Iraq has invited IOCs to submit proposals to explore and develop oil and gas in nine blocks.
Eight are onshore – in the provinces of Basrah, Maysan, Muthanna, Wasit and Diala – and one is offshore, the oil ministry said in a statement. Several blocks are near the Kuwaiti and Iranian borders.
“The contracts of this round will be different from the previous licensing rounds,” Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said.
