A new ‘customs warehouse’ regime for gas storage facilities introduced by Ukraine in April this year is proving successful in attracting foreign suppliers and traders to the country.  

The customs warehouse system allows companies to transport gas into Ukraine without paying the 20% import VAT and customs duties. Companies can store gas in this way for 1,095 days instead of the 31 days specified under previous regulations.
