Chilean state-owned company Codelco is seeking to sell its 37% stake in the country’s northern GNL Mejillones LNG terminal, which is currently controlled by Engie.

Codelco is seeking to bolster its financial position and concentrate on its main business of copper mining, according to La Tercera. The most likely buyer of the stake is Engie, the newspaper added.

Shipments of LNG to GNL Mejillones could increase by around 50% in 2018, Matias Vidal, the facility’s commercial manager, has said.
