Shell, which won three blocks in Brazil’s pre-salt auctions, is eyeing acquisition opportunities in the country’s power sector, according to local newspaper Valor Econômico.

“We are looking into deals. [It may be] acquisitions or joint development opportunities,” André Araujo, the supermajor’s top executive in Brazil, was quoted as saying.

Shell recently obtained approval from ANEEL, Brazil’s regulator, to start selling power in the country.
