India’s gas consumption exceeded 5 billion cubic metres in September, marking a multi-year high, according to statistics from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. Monthly gas consumption has been increasing over the past 2-3 years as LNG has become more affordable. Just over half the gas consumed in September was from domestic production and the remainder was imported LNG. India’s gas consumption has experienced a period of growth over the past four months, from 4.5 bcm in June.
