Gas shortages are damaging Bangladesh’s textile industry, with 350 facilities having faced disruption, according to Just-Style.

Bangladesh relies on gas to provide around 70% of its power, and many textile factories have captive gas-fired power plants.

Gas is also used directly by the industry for heating irons and boilers, as well as for steaming and washing.

Garment factories in the Gazipur, Konabari, Savar and Kashimpur regions are struggling to meet buyers’ shipment deadlines.
