France-based Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has announced it will design cryogenic tanks for nine LNG-fuelled container ships being built by Chinese shipbuilders Hudong Zhonghua and Shanghai Waigaoqiao.

The vessels will be delivered between the end of 2019 and 2020 to Marseille-based shipowner CMA CGM.

They will be capable of carrying 22,000 containers and be the biggest container ships in operation.

The LNG fuel tanks for these vessels will be 18,600 cubic metres in size and will use the Mark III technology developed by GTT.
