The EU28’s dependence on imported gas increased to 69% in 2015, according to data released by the European Commission. The EU’s statistical pocketbook for energy, published in early October, shows the share of imports in Europe’s gas consumption in 2015 had increased by more than 25 percentage points since 1995, when it was at 43%, and 12 percentage points since 2005 when it was at 57%.
