Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the United States of trying to squeeze Russian gas out of European energy markets with its latest round of sanctions, according to Pakistan Today.

Speaking at a forum in southern Russia, Putin criticised US foreign policy and suggested the latest sanctions package adopted by the US Congress was openly designed to force Europe to use more-expensive LNG from the United States.
