The number of rigs targeting gas in the Middle East stood at 98 in September, dropping by a single rig from the previous month. The rig count in Kuwait fell to 12 while in Abu Dhabi only four rigs targeting gas were operational. Meanwhile, the rig count in Oman ticked up to 10. Oman is pursuing a gas-focused strategy and invited bids to explore four blocks in September. IOCs have until the end of the year to submit bids.
