US gas output will edge upwards in 2017

The United States is estimated to see a marginal increase in gas production in 2017, with daily output rising by 22.66 million cubic metres.

The United States is estimated to see a marginal increase in gas production in 2017, with output rising by 22.66 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) year on year to average 2.08 billion cubic metres per day, the Energy Information Administration wrote in its latest Short-Term Energy Outlook.

Production is forecast to rise by a further 138.77 MMcm/d on an annual basis in 2018. Greater domestic consumption and higher export volumes are expected to push up prices.
