Eni has acquired data on offshore Crete, but the company still has to conduct analysis before deciding whether to explore the area, Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi told journalists at a book presentation in Milan on Monday.
"We bought baseline data in order to conduct analysis," Descalzi said, according to Italian news agency ANSA.
He added that this is common to many other areas: "We then conduct studies and decide whether the operation is interesting or not," Descalzi said.
