Russian gas production set to beat forecasts

Russia’s Energy Ministry expects domestic gas production to amount to around 670 billion cubic metres in 2017.

"With regard to gas production, there will be around 670 bcm this year," Russian Deputy Energy Minister Alexei Teksler told journalists on Wednesday.

In its spring forecast, the ministry said it expected gas production to reach 640.5 bcm in 2017 and rise to 648 bcm in 2018 and 656 bcm in 2019.

Russia produced 640 bcm of gas in 2016.
