Nigerian oil minister requests changes at NNPC in leaked letter

Nigerian Petroleum Minister Ibe Kachikwu has asked President Muhammadu Buhari reconsider recent changes in personnel at Nigerian National Petroleum Corp., which were seemingly made without any input from him.

Nigerian Petroleum Minister Ibe Kachikwu has asked President Muhammadu Buhari reconsider recent changes in personnel at Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC), which were seemingly made without any input from him.

Kachikwu made the request in a letter to Buhari that was leaked and widely shared on social media. In the letter, Kachikwu accused NNPC’s group managing director, Maikanti Baru, of “humiliating” and “disrespectful” behaviour, and said changes were necessary for the state-owned company to become more transparent.
