Chinese gas consumption hits 150 bcm in January-August 2017

China consumed 150.4 billion cubic metres of gas in the first eight months of 2017, up by 17.8% year on year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

China consumed 150.4 billion cubic metres of gas in the first eight months of 2017, up by 17.8% year on year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.

Production increased by 10.8% over the period, to 97.8 bcm, while imports rose by 24.8%, to 57 bcm. Consumption surged by 30.4% year on year in August, to 18.1 bcm, while production was up by 10.2%, to 11.7 bcm, and imports were up by 58.3%, to 7.7 bcm.
