Ukraine’s Naftogaz files $5 bln lawsuit over Crimea assets

Naftogaz Ukrainy has submitted a $5 billion compensation claim against Russia over the "unlawful seizure" of assets in Crimea.

Ukrainian state company Naftogaz Ukrainy and its six subsidiaries have submitted a $5 billion compensation claim against Russia for damages caused by the "unlawful seizure" of the group’s assets in Crimea, it said on Wednesday.

The claim was filed to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.

A decision is expected by the end of 2018, according to Naftogaz.

The company previously estimated the damages at $2.6 billion.
