China’s phase-out of fossil fuel cars will benefit gas – analyst

China’s plans to start phasing out cars that run on petrol and diesel will benefit the gas industry, Bernstein analyst Neil Beveridge wrote in a note on Tuesday.

"A shift towards [electric vehicles] is also a shift towards gas and renewable energy," said Beveridge.

"For natural gas, the growth in EVs will be positive given the increase in demand for electricity. Solar and wind can meet some of the demand, but the interruptible nature of this energy supply and inability to meet seasonal demand means...
