Pennsylvania approves pollution plan for Atlantic Sunrise pipeline

Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has approved a pollution-offsetting plan for the construction of the Atlantic Sunrise pipeline.

The $3 billion project will deliver gas from the Marcellus shale play to markets in the southeastern United States, with the majority of the proposed route running through Pennsylvania.

The DEP announced on Friday that it "had thoroughly reviewed the application to ensure that temporary emissions during the construction phase of this project will be minimal and completely offset by reductions elsewhere".
