Reliance and BP making new plan for Mahanadi basin block

BP and India’s Reliance are preparing a new development plan for the gas-rich NEC-OSN-97/2 block in the Mahanadi basin offshore eastern India, according to Bloomberg.

Work on the block has been hindered because of its close proximity to the Chandipur missile test base. The companies have put together a new plan following reforms by Narendra Modi’s government that include greater freedom on the pricing of gas as well as incentives to boost domestic production.
