Gazprom unlikely to hold gas auction for additional volumes this year

Gazprom is unlikely to hold an auction this year to sell additional volumes of gas for export, several market sources have told Interfax.

Additional gas may instead be sold by the Russian gas giant’s trading subsidiaries in Europe. However, Gazprom does not intend to abandon auctions and may hold them again in future if conditions are right.

When asked about the outlook for auctions, Gazprom Export Chief Executive Elena Burmistrova told Interfax: “No, it shouldn’t be expected now.”
