Osaka Gas is looking to supply the greater Tokyo area with gas, which would make it the first of Japan’s regional gas companies to expand beyond its traditional service area, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.
The company is looking to enter the market in a joint venture with Tepco and JXTG. Japan’s residential gas market was opened to competition for the first time in April, enabling regional monopolies to branch out to other areas.
