UK oil services firm Petrofac has secured a contract worth more than $700 million for work on the onshore gas processing facility on Sakhalin Island in Russia.

“The project comprises a lump-sum engineering, procurement and offshore fabrication component, as well as a reimbursable element for construction and site services,” Petrofac said in a statement on Wednesday.

The work aims to support Sakhalin Energy, the Gazprom-controlled LNG plant operator, in “maintaining its sustainable LNG capacity”.
