PetroChina starts drilling Neijiang-Dazu shale well

PetroChina started to drill the first shale well in the Neijiang-Dazu Block in Sichuan province on 30 August to a target depth of 4,790 metres.

PetroChina started to drill the first shale well in the Neijiang-Dazu Block in Sichuan province on 30 August to a target depth of 4,790 metres.

The block is jointly owned by PetroChina and BP, which signed a production-sharing contract in March 2016.

PetroChina is the operator of the concession, which covers a total area of 50,000 hectares.
