Oman lines up exploration round with long-term view

Oman is hoping its forthcoming licensing round will help it expand its gas industry

Oman is preparing its next licensing round and intends to launch the bidding process later this month. New gas discoveries would help the sultanate supply its planned expansion of gas-intensive industries. 

Oman’s Ministry of Oil & Gas will open the tender process for four or five blocks in September. It hopes to capitalise on its neutral stance in the Qatar diplomatic crisis and good relations with Iran.
