Reliance Industries plans power storage projects

India’s Reliance Industries is planning to become involved in the power storage sector with its partner BP, according to Bloomberg.

The companies are planning to build storage projects for solar and wind energy installations, according to an anonymous source quoted by the newswire.

The plans are part of a push by global oil and gas majors to become more involved in the power sector, as well as new and emerging technologies.

Reliance has been trying to enter the alternative energy business since 2009.
