The number of rigs targeting gas in the Middle East fell by 1% in July from the previous month, to 98. The largest month-on-month drop in exploration was in Pakistan, which had only eight rigs in operation during July compared with 11 in June. However, the country’s energy sector may gain more attention following the appointment of former Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as interim prime minister at the end of last month.
