OPAL pipeline volumes continue to rise

Capacity utilisation on Germany’s OPAL pipeline continues to increase and reached 85% on Monday, operator OPAL Gastransport has reported.

Utilisation rates, which amounted to 63% on 1 August, rose to 80% on 2 August, 81% on 4 August, and 84.5% on 7 August (based on a design capacity of 36 billion cubic metres per year).

The increase comes after the European Court of Justice lifted a suspension on 21 July of the European Commission’s decision to allow Gazprom to use additional capacity on OPAL, which connects to...
