Argentine state-run giant YPF plans to carry out a $150 million pilot project that will target unconventional plays and focus primarily on gas, Platts reported on Thursday.

Thirteen horizontal wells will be drilled as part of the five-year project in the Rincon de Mangrullo block, which is one of Argentina’s leading unconventional gas developments.

YPF is currently producing tight gas from the Mulichinco formation in the block with independent company Pampa Energia.
