American Electric Power, one of the largest utilities in the United States, plans to invest $4.5 billion in a 2 GW wind farm and associated transmission power line.

American Electric Power (AEP), one of the largest utilities in the United States, plans to invest $4.5 billion in a 2 GW wind farm and associated transmission power line that will stretch across Oklahoma’s panhandle.

AEP will purchase the Wind Catcher farm from Invenergy once construction is completed, but it needs approvals from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas to do so.

AEP has been closing its coal power plants and diversifying its power mix by switching to renewables.
