China’s gas imports up 16% in H1

China imported 31.11 mt of LNG and pipeline gas in H1 2017, up by 15.8% year on year.

China imported 31.11 mt of LNG and pipeline gas in H1 2017, up by 15.8% year on year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.

The country increased its LNG imports by 37.9%, to 15.91 mt, while pipeline imports edged down by 0.83%, to 15.19 mt.

LNG imports surged by 37.8% year on year in June, to 3.03 mt, with Australia alone supplying 1.79 mt.

Pipeline imports climbed by 22.1% to 2.53 mt, with Turkmenistan contributing 84% of the total.
