Qatar’s plan to increase its LNG production by 30%, to 100 mtpa, in five-to-seven years will deter growth in LNG exports from the United States, Woodside Petroleum Chief Executive Peter Coleman has said.

However, “the Qataris will not take up all of the available market”, The Sydney Morning Herald reported Coleman as saying on Thursday.

Woodside is the operator of Australia’s North West Shelf project. Qatar’s plan will also increase competition for Woodside.
