EIB lends €4.3 bln to energy projects

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has approved €4.3 billion ($4.97 billion) in loans to finance energy projects in Europe and elsewhere, it said on Tuesday.

"These include onshore wind, hydropower and smart meter projects in Italy, energy efficiency, solar, wind and district heating projects in France, reinforcement and extension of natural gas distribution in Ireland and Spain, and financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency in India," the EIB said in a statement.
