Bangladesh’s Petrobangla and Qatar’s RasGas signed their first LNG import contract on Thursday, under which Bangladesh will take 2.5 mtpa of LNG for 15 years.
The price of LNG in the contract is reportedly oil-linked. The agreement has been through several rounds of negotiations, but a deal was finally reached on Thursday.
Bangladesh has also signed a memorandum of understanding for LNG imports with Swiss company AOT Energy, and a sales-and-purchase agreement is due to be signed by the end of the year.
