Taiwanese national power company Taipower lost TWD 7.1 billion ($234.54 million) in the first half of 2017, pushing its accumulated losses above TWD 100 billion, according to Focus Taiwan.
Taipower posted large gains in 2016, with a surplus of TWD 39.6 billion, but was the only state company to post a loss in H1 2017.
Taipower has lost money because of a 9.56% cut in electricity prices that took effect in April 2016.
