Tokyo Gas plans small-scale LNG for SE Asia islands

By Staff reporter 17 July 2017

Tokyo Gas is looking to develop small-scale LNG facilities on small islands in Southeast Asia, according to the Nikkei Asian Review.

The company is starting with a feasibility study in the Philippines that will look into building small LNG storage and power facilities.

The capital investment required for each island is estimated at tens of millions of dollars, but switching from oil to LNG would reduce the cost of power generation. The project is receiving support from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
