Norway’s Statoil made a small gas discovery during its 2017 Barents Sea exploration campaign, the company said in a note on Monday.
Statoil, together with partners Eni and Petoro, found gas in a 23-metre column in the Stø formation in the Blåmann well, located between the Snøhvit and Goliat fields.
"We were exploring for oil and this is not the result we were hoping for," Jez Averty, Statoil’s senior vice president for exploration in Norway and the UK, said in a note.
