China to take largest share of global 1.6% annual gas demand growth – IEA

Global gas demand is expected to rise by 1.6% per year for the next five years, with China accounting for 40% of this growth, the International Energy Agency has said.

Global gas demand is expected to rise by 1.6% per year for the next five years, with China accounting for 40% of this growth, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a report released on Thursday.

Gas consumption will reach almost 4 trillion cubic metres per year by 2022, up from 3.63 tcm in 2016, the IEA said.
