EU and Japan sign LNG cooperation agreement

The EU and Japan have signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote a liquid, flexible and transparent global LNG market.

The EU and Japan have signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) to promote a liquid, flexible and transparent global LNG market, the European Commission announced on Tuesday.

Japan is the world’s largest LNG importer and collectively Japan and the EU countries account for nearly 50% of global LNG demand.

The MOC calls for greater efforts to abolish destination clauses in LNG contracts, among other things.
