Iranian MPs will not challenge South Pars deal directly

By Staff reporter 11 July 2017

Conservative Iranian MP Jabbar Kouchaki-Nejad has denied claims that several members of Iran’s Parliament are preparing to challenge a deal signed with Total, China National Petroleum Corp. and Petropars for the development of South Pars Phase 11.

Kouchaki-Nejad was quoted by news agency IRNA as saying the group of lawmakers intend to send a letter to President Hassan Rouhani criticising the deal, rather than launch an attempt to invalidate it.
