Shale gas reservoir found in Hubei

A shale gas reservoir has been discovered in the city of Yichang in China’s Hubei province, the China Geological Survey (CGS) said on Friday.

The area covers 120,000 hectares and is estimated to have gas reserves of more than 500 billion cubic metres.

A shale gas well 20 km southwest of Yichang flowed one-day output of 60.2 thousand cubic metres (Mcm) and a one-day open flow of 123.8 Mcm.
