The construction of the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is 77% complete and startup is scheduled for 2018, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Monday at the 22nd World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul, according to the Anadolu news agency.
Azerbaijan’s government signed an agreement with the World Bank in Baku in January for a loan of $400 million to build the pipeline.
TANAP accounts for more than half of the 3,500 km Southern Gas Corridor pipeline system planned to run from Azerbaijan to Italy.
