By Staff reporter 10 July 2017

Renewable energy company Voltalia has started construction of two solar power plants in Var – the sunniest region of France.

The 10.4 MW Canadel and 3.8 MW Castellet 2 plants are scheduled to start up by the end of the year.

France introduced a new law in 2015 for the country’s transition to green energy that established six objectives. These include reducing fossil fuel consumption by 30% by 2030 and cutting nuclear energy’s share of electricity production to 50% by 2025.
