Chinese gas consumption will reach 323 bcm/y by 2020 – Woodmac

China’s gas consumption will reach 323 billion cubic metres per year by 2020 and 540 bcm/y by 2030, Wood Mackenzie said on Friday.

Gas will account for 8% of the country’s energy mix by 2020 and 12% by 2030, Woodmac added.

If correct, the forecast means China will miss its official targets, which are for gas to meet as much as 10% of its energy mix by 2020, rising to 15% in 2030.
