Brussels OKs joint venture for German LNG terminal

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control over a newly created joint venture by Netherlands-based Gasunie LNG and Vopak LNG and German company Oiltanking, it said on Friday.

The joint venture will own and operate an LNG terminal in northern Germany.

"The commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns because the companies are not active in the same product and geographic markets, or in a market which is upstream or downstream from those markets," the commission said in a statement.
